2011 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series

2011 Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series season
Previous: 2010 Next: 2012

The 2011 Fujitsu V8 Supercars season was the twelfth running of the V8 Supercar Development series, an Australian touring car racing series for cars eligible to Fujitsu Series V8 Supercar regulations. The championship will support the 2011 International V8 Supercars Championship acting as principal support category at those meetings the two series share. It began on 17 March at the Clipsal 500 and will ended on 3 December at the Sydney 500 after 17 races held at seven rounds.

Andrew Thompson, driving a Triple Eight Race Engineering prepared Holden VE Commodore, dominated the 2011 series, winning eleven of the 17 races. Thompson won the championship by 295 points over Sonic Motor Racing Services Ford of Jack Perkins. Perkins pipped MW Motorsport Ford driver David Russell at the final round of the year by seven points, after winning the final race of the year at the Sydney 500.

The six races not won by Thompson were race two at the Adelaide street circuit which was won in emotional circumstances by Jason Richards, the Brad Jones Racing driver from the main series taking a guest drive during a break in his treatment for a serious illness while driving a Greg Murphy Racing Holden Commodore, David Russell's team mate Tim Blanchard who won the reverse grid race held at the most recent race meeting, the Townsville street circuit, Stone Brothers Racing Ford driver Scott McLaughlin in Race 1 at Queensland Raceway, former series champion Andrew Jones who won the reverse grid race at Queensland Raceway in a Brad Jones Racing prepared Holden VE Commodore and two late season wins for Perkins at Sandown and Sydney.
